Yesterday a man was at my school selling African clothing and instruments, and he and I got to talking. We had a great conversation about Bonnaroo, which he apparently goes to every year to sell his wares. He found out that I couldn’t afford to buy a djembe drum when I was there, so he ended up giving me one of his! “You are from Bonnaroo, so you are family.” It really changed my perspective and shone a light on my state of mind. To have a piece of that happiness and generosity that you find on the farm was so heartwarming and valuable. I can’t wait to develop my djembe abilities and bring it to ‘Roo in June!
